I’ve been blessed with great friendships in my life. These friendships have seen my family go through serious struggles, and they have prayed and cried with us at times, and us with them. These friends have encouraged our walk with Christ and continue to keep us accountable to doing all things in order to honor the King. As important and wonderful as these friendships have been, they pale in comparison to the friendship offered to us by the King of Kings.
Today’s song, Who is This King by Pocket Full of Rocks reminds us who we lift our praise to.
He is the King who says I’ll leave you never
He is the God who call you friend
When I hear the lyrics to this song, I’m reminded of Jesus calming the storm at the lake.
Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”
The disciples knew Jesus was the Son of God, He had already told them. They followed Him everywhere He went, and by this time they had already experienced many miracles. Yet in the middle of this storm, they were in a panic. They went and woke Him asking to intervene, like they knew He could, however the moment He calmed the storm, they were amazed at His authority.
How many times have you been on the same boat? Do you run in a panic and cry out to Him in the middle of the storm? I do.
I am thankful I have Him to intercede, because honestly, I am useless. it is my goal however to panic less, and trust more.
