My First Blogging Conference

During the Summer of 2015, I was determined to start blogging consistently. Blogs had become my primary source of information for all things homeschooling for some time, and I had developed friendships with many bloggers over the years. It was then that I first heard of the 2:1 Conference.

As October approached my Facebook, Twitter and Persicope feeds were swarmed by conference posts. With no ticket, and no real direction to my blogging I missed out, but made a mental note to attend the following year. In June of 2016, with a vision, a plan and full support from my family, I committed to this blog, and bought my ticket to the 2:1 Conference.

What is 2:1?

“The 2:1 Conference is a faith-based conference for homeschooling parents who blog (not just about homeschooling), or are active in social media.”

It is based on Titus 2:1

You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.

Teaching in accordance to sound doctrine, is the core of our homeschooling mission statement. It is why I spend countless hours reading, preparing and organizing my kids curriculum. The heart of our homeschool is to do ALL things for the glory of God. The 2:1 team applies this statement to not just the teaching in our homes, but to teaching each other as mothers, bloggers, and business owners.

The mission of the 2:1 team us equip bloggers and social media influences with tools and confidence to succeed.

My Experience

As a new blogger, and first blogging conference attendee I had not idea what to expect. For weeks before the conference took place, I was overwhelmed by the friendship and support of other attendees. I was amazed by the constant offering of prayer and and sisterhood that these women had developed.

When I finally arrived I was welcomed as one welcomes family into their home, both by the 2:1 team and the sponsors.

We were encouraged by the keynote speakers, equipped in the breakout sessions and workshops, and lifted up in prayer by the mentor groups. I left completely refreshed, inspired, and encouraged. I made face to face connections with women that I had until then only developed online friendships.

2015 Location and Sponsors

The conference was held at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was outstanding.

Not only where we encouraged and equipped by the team and the speakers. We were also blessed by the many sponsors that made this conference possible:

These sponsors hosted brunch, desert and coffee each day of the conference. We were able to make connections and get to know the people behind the companies we’ve come to know and love. Every attendee went home with hundreds of dollars worth of curriculum and other goodies.

What’s in it for you?

I had a really big yet wonderful problem on my way home from Ohio. I was ‘warned’ about the overwhelming conference swag in earlier years, so I left extra room in my suitcase. By the time I had to come home the extra room in my suitcase was miniscule. Here is some of the swag I came home with:
