I Wonder by Leeland

When I first heard this song, I was at a women’s retreat, right in the middle of a dry season. I arrived on a Friday night, thinking of how many things I needed to get done as soon as I got home that Sunday. I was consumed with concerns of financial burdens that needed to be met, I was distracted by a recent disagreement with my sister. I was eager to leave as soon as I arrived. I just didn’t feel like I could stay with everything I had on my plate.

When a young girl walked on stage with a group of older ladies to lead worship that Friday evening, I was a little surprised. When she lifted her voice up in worship with this song, I crumbled.

How petty were my worries in comparison to the greatness of the grace that was extended by the Father. I literally did fall on my face under His grace.

At the stars in the night, I wonder
At Your lightning in the sky, I shudder
Your glory is a blanket that covers
Every living thing
I’m in awe at the majesty of who You are
Your love is a seal burnt inside my heart
All of the day I want to be where You are
Holy Father
And it feels like there’s not enough praise inside of me
With all these words, all my heart can sing is holy
You are holy
Jesus Christ
You bled Your love, laid down Yourself
And gave me life
In naked shame You hung and You were lifted high
Here I lay in awe and wonder
I am afraid
For no one’s ever sacrificed and loved me this way
So on my face I fall under Your heavy grace
Here I lay in awe and wonder
And I wonder
I’m in awe at the majesty of who You are
Your love is a seal burnt inside my heart
All of the day I want to be where You are
Holy Father
And it feels like there’s not enough praise inside of me
With all these words, all my heart can sing is holy
You are holy

Have you felt the heaviness of His grace lately? It is overwhelming. Suddenly the worries about finances, and silly fights are insignificant. He is Holy.

I urge you to silently meditate on His holiness and grace. He hung on that cross for you.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
